¡Enhorabuena!
George R. R. Martin once said “I have lived a thousand lives and I've loved a thousand loves. I've walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read.”. The only thing better than reading a book is recommending one and this is the purpose of the Read it! contest.
I found out about the contest when one of my teachers talked to me and my classmates about it. I quickly partnered up with a friend of mine and we got to work. To enter the contest we had to record a 2 minute video recommending a book in English. The video had to be catchy and similar to the content in social media. It didn’t take long for us to come up with the idea of a “book drive-through” and we recorded it in the school cafeteria. We later had to edit it to add some effects and subtitles and it was ready to be sent.
About a month after submitting our work we got the exciting news that we had won in our category: we were the winners of Year 3 in Spain!. Our prize was a 25€ gift card for each contestant and 250€ in books for the school library. The prize difference may seem unfair but the school let us choose which books they would spend the money on and we later did an unboxing when they arrived.
All in all I encourage any student reading this article to participate in this year’s contest. It takes a bit of time and creativity but the experience is very rewarding and the prizes are well-worth it.
¡¡¡Muchas gracias, Avril!!!
